மிக்ஜம் புயல் காரணமாக தமிழகத்தின் வட மாவட்டங்களில் கனமழை கொட்டித் தீர்த்தது. இதனால் பல இடங்களில் சாலைகள் மற்றும் குடியிருப்பு பகுதிகளில் மழைநீர் தேங்கி பொதுமக்களின் இயல்பு வாழ்க்கை வெகுவாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டது.
மழை, வெள்ள பாதிப்பு காரணமாக சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம்,செங்கல்பட்டு மாவட்டங்களில் உள்ள பள்ளிகள் மற்றும் கல்லூரிகளுக்கு கடந்த மாதம் 4-ம் தேதி முதல் 11-ம் தேதி வரை தொடர் விடுமுறை அளிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.
இதனை ஈடுசெய்யும் விதமாக சென்னையில் 4 வாரங்களுக்கு சனிக்கிழமைகளில் பள்ளிகள் செயல்படும் என சென்னை மாவட்ட முதன்மை கல்வி அலுவலர் மார்க்ஸ் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.
அதன்படி இந்த மாதத்தில் 6 மற்றும் 20ம் தேதிகளிலும் அடுத்த மாதத்தில் 3 மற்றும் 17ம் தேதிகளிலும் பள்ளிகள் செயல்படும் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது.
பொதுத்தேர்வு நெருங்கி வரும் நிலையில் பாடங்கள் முழுவதுமாக நடத்தி முடிக்க ஏதுவாக இந்த முடிவு எடுக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. இந்த அறிவிப்பு தனியார் பள்ளிகளுக்கும் பொருந்தும் எனவும் கூறப்பட்டு உள்ளது.

Cyclone Mikjam lashed the northern districts of Tamil Nadu with heavy rains. As a result, roads and residential areas were flooded with rain water and the normal life of the public was greatly affected.
Schools and colleges in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts were given holiday from 4th to 11th of last month due to rain and flood.
To compensate for this, Chennai District Principal Education Officer Marks has ordered that schools in Chennai will operate on Saturdays for 4 weeks.
Accordingly, it has been informed that schools will function on the 6th and 20th of this month and on the 3rd and 17th of the next month.
It has been reported that this decision has been taken to complete the lessons as the general examination is approaching. It is said that this notification will also apply to private schools.
